Lucky Me “Hapag Usapan”

This commercial only lasts for thirty seconds and it is about Lucky Me, a brand of instant noodles that has always been concerned about its consumers as it is shown in its logo that connotes a warm embrace that the product can give. It values happy memories and bonding moments with family while eating the flavorful meal.

In this commercial, it shows a little boy having a meal with his parents and it can be noticed that his parents are very busy with their work that they have no time for their child. Suddenly, the child interrupted them from having a conversation with their co-workers. He wanted to talk about his classmates who bullied him causing him to have a wound in his knee. He said that they were not friendly and they are bad. The parents are about to say something but unfortunately someone called and the poor little boy just sadly became quiet as he nodded his head down. The message of this commercial is to encourage every Filipino to revive the old times of eating together with their love ones especially their family as what it showed in the last part saying, “Kainang Pamilya, Mahalaga” or that a meal shared with family is important as dining table is considered the primary place to build closeness with family. Sometimes children face different struggles at school and their environment which changes their behavior leading them to try new things that are not good for them. But with their parents actively involved in their lives, they can be corrected from their wrong doings. According to scientific researches children who always have their meal with their families are less likely to engage to drugs, smoking and other vices as they are guided well by their parents.

The strategy used in the commercial is very moving as it value family meals, building a strong relationship with every family member and guiding children to become better persons. There are many hindrances among family conversations like technology, work, studies and more which also hinders them to have exchanges of lively stories or experiences. This commercial encourages people to have most of their meal with their family to establish a strong relationship and closeness especially with children. That’s why Lucky Me wants to convince the viewers to change hapag- kainan to hapag-usapan or meal conversations to be able to prioritize and address issues happening and experienced by the family. This advertisement used television and internet as the means of communicating to their audience though it may be expensive; I think their investment in this advertisement would be recovered with the popularity of its product and with its low price that everyone can afford. And I’m sure that there would be a lot of feedback and realizations after watching this advertisement for it is very encouraging that there is a big effect to children if they will not be guided and corrected.
